Carly was referred to Go! Youth Trust by her primary school as they wanted to provide some support for Carly to build new relationships and prepare for her transition into Secondary school. Carly struggled to make and sustain friendships and would often have to leave class when she became overwhelmed.
GYT provided a volunteer mentor, Eleanor, for Carly who supported her through her final year of mentoring at Primary School and also through the transition to Secondary School. Eleanor continued to work with Carly for the first 6 months of S1 allowing her a safe space every week to be able to share her anxieties about the new school.
Carly soon become involved in much more than the mentoring programme at GYT and joined our youth drop ins, holiday programmes and residentials. Carly now contributes to our youth voice programme and helps GYT make plans and programmes for young people who face similar challenges to the ones she has overcome.
“Go! Youth Trust have made a huge impact in Carly’s life. They really undersell themselves, they changed her life” Steven, Parent
